Federal Programs Mission Statement:

Our goal is to support the Destination APS Strategic Plan by allocating and monitoring federal resources throughout Aurora Public Schools.

The Department of Federal Programs, under the Division of Finance, is responsible for maintaining compliance with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the newly authorized Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Our department works with district staff and school staff to ensure federal funds are allocated appropriately.

Notice of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Aurora Public Schools District Plan

Notice is hereby given that the proposed Aurora Public Schools District Plan listed below is posted for comment for 30 days, beginning June 17, 2025, and ending July 17, 2025. Comments can be submitted to federalprograms@aurorak12.org.

The plan has been presented to the District Accountability Advisory Committee and will be presented to the Board of Education by June 17, 2025.

The proposed plan will be submitted to the Colorado Department of Education for review and approval for the 2025-2026 school year.

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Plan

Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV, and Title VI

Overview: The Every Student Succeeds Act, allocated by the US Department of Education to each state educational agency, provides formula funding to school districts for supplementary programming. Below is a summary of plans for these funds in 2025-26.

  • Title I, Part A provides classroom and district-level resources to improve the academic achievement of traditionally underserved populations.
  • Title II provides support for teacher and principal training
  • Title III serves English language learners by providing teachers and staff with research-based instructional strategies
  • Title IV supports academic achievement by increasing access to well-rounded education, improving school conditions, and improving technology for all students.
  • Title VI: serves Native American, Native Hawaiian, and Native Alaskan students.


Elementary Schools served with Title I-A funds: Altura, Crawford, Elkhart, Fulton, Iowa, Jewell, Kenton, Lansing, Laredo, Montview, Park Lane, Tollgate, Vaughn, Virginia Court, and Yale
K-8 Schools served with Title I-A funds: Boston, Clyde Miller, Del Mar, and Edna & John Mosley
Middle Schools served with Title I-A funds: Aurora Hills, East, Mrachek, North, and Aurora West Preparatory Academy (AWCPA) 6-8
High Schools served with Title I-A funds: Aurora Central, Gateway, Hinkley, and AWCPA 9-12
Charter Schools served with Title I-A funds: Aurora Science and Tech, Lotus, Rocky Mountain Prep, Vanguard Classical School - West, and Vega
